What if you could never check your bank balance again?
What if you just had to guess how much money you had in your account?
You know like the old days when people “balanced their check books.”
I am willing to bet that most people would go completely broke and incur massive overdraft charges.
Why? Because your spending habits suck. Most people live paycheck to paycheck, checking their account to see if they can afford this or that little thing here and there. Can I go out to dinner tonight? Let me check. Without much future planning. Just spend if you got it, don’t if you dont.
Whats even worse is credit cards. Cant afford it? No problem, use fake money you will have to pay back later and add into those monthly payments that seem to rule you life.
People end up oscillating between broke and “Woo I have money!”
And guess, what, those same habits are the reason you can’t lose fat.
If you think of your body like a bank account. Either you are vastly over spending on a credit card and incurring debt you have to pay back later.
Think of debt as fat on your body.
The calories you over consume as the money you didn’t have to spend but spent anyways.
And, paying it back in the future as the calories deficit you’re going to have to go into later to payback those calories and lose the fat/debt you’ve accumulated.
Now, what if you just had better spending habits?
What if you knew how much money you had coming in weekly/monthly (or calories you burn on a daily/weekly/monthly basis)?
And with that information you set a budget based on whether you wanted to pay off debt (lose fat) or save money for the weekend (plan for a cheat meal), or just break even (maintain) or maybe you even got a bonus coming in (a big workout, hike, activity day) and you’d like to choose where to spend that extra cash (calories).
Sounds like you would have a lot more control over you cash (body) wouldn’t you?
And perhaps you would spend less time blowing cash then being broke then blowing cash then being broke (ahem… binge/ restrict eating cycle AKA crash diets)
Sounds pretty reasonable yeah?
This is exactly how I have been able to keep myself in check while traveling. I don’t have a scale which means I cannot check my “body bank account.”
This means I am entirely relying on my skills and habits of effective eating habits to keep my body in check.
Just like not being able to check a bank account (which I can do BTW), I have to plan my calorie spending.
Is that BOMB GELATO in the budget?
Where can I earn more (burn more) by walking places, getting in workouts, etc?
How to I want to spend my calories to not go into debt (get fat) or end up at the end of the day with nothing left to spend.
I am using all the skills I teach my girls in KCIT to live my damn life AND not break the bank.
Hows your spending plan?
